#3 Finis

#3 Finis | Just a few final shots of #3 which I built for me buddy Stephen Johnson. This one is in Boston now. I am thrilled that Stephen likes it, but it sure was hard to let this one go.

The Grandillo back on this guitar really pops.

I tried to add a lot of little "pops" throughout this build. The heel cap is Granadillo cut off from the back with a tiny maple laminate.

The Lutz Spruce top on this has a nice even tone. Also very nice grain and pattern. I have just about got my pinless bridge design worked out. This was version 7.

The headstock has a flame maple veneer on the back with black and white laminations to give it some snap and pop.

The veneer on the front of the headstock is a mirrored section from the Granadillo back wood leftovers. Also, the truss rod cover is magnetic and interchangeable - will post a video about that soon. There are three versions: spruce from the top, mahogany from the neck, rosewood to match the fingerboard. I dig the way the asymmetry of the headstock turned out.

Everything on the body of the guitar is wood. The bindings are flame maple. The purfling around the top is a 3/32" black white black laminate. Adds a nice contrast and border to the top.

We also put a L. R. Baggs Lyric Mic/pickup in it. Hope we can get Stephen to post some pics and video of him playing it.
